Appeal launched as flare is lit inside Newcastle railway station

British Transport Police has released a CCTV image after a flare was lit inside Newcastle railway station.

The incident happened at 10.40pm on Saturday 17 August.

A man is reported to have lit the flare then walked out the station. Smoke from the flare set off the station fire alarms.

Once outside, he threw the flare then left the area.

British Transport Police officers would like to speak to the man in the image.

Anyone who knows him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference number 1900076433.

  • Must be a football hooligan (Sunderland fan) causing trouble. Why bring a flare to the railway station. Thought that British Transport Police and Network Rail stopped football fans from
    carrying these around and causing trouble before or after the football game.
