Where to see a steam locomotive in Carlisle this Saturday

Steam locomotive No.35018 British India Line will be back in steam on the mainline and will be passing through Carlisle and Langwathby on Saturday 3rd August 2019.

The Merchant Navy Class locomotive is on a railtour this Saturday. 35018 is hauling a tour from Carnforth to Hellifield.

The locomotive will depart Crewe at 06:52 behind a diesel locomotive. It will pass through Wilmslow (07:20), Stockport (07:34), Denton (08:14), Manchester Victoria (09:00), Bolton (09:34), Preston (10:15) and Lancaster at 10:41 before arriving into Carnforth DUGL at 10:48.

Here, 35018 British India Line is added to the train. Departing here at 11:24, the tour will continue via Oxenholme Lake District (11:41) and Tebay (11:57) before arriving into Carlisle at 12:41.

The return journey will see the locomotive depart Carlisle at 15:20, and will then pass through Landwathby (15:53), Appleby (16:27), Blea Moor (17:04), and Hellifield Goods Loop at 17:28.

Here the diesels replace 35018, the train will pass through Clitheroe (18:36), Blackburn (19:01), Bolton (20:00), Manchester Victoria (20:39), Denton (21:01), Stockport (21:40), Wilmslow (21:56), Sandbach (22:34) and Crewe (22:42).
