Following events in July, Great Western Railway 78XX ‘Manor' Class No.7802 “Bradley Manor” joins fellow fund-owned engine No.7812 “Erlesroke Manor” at Tyseley Locomotives Works.

While on hire to the , 7802's piston rod snapped while hauling a passenger train.

This caused further damage to the surrounding components, which following the initial examination, the Fund made the decision to move the locomotive to Tyseley Locomotive Works, where a full investigation into the issue, damage done and repairs required can be assessed and carried out.

The Fund would like to thank everyone who've shown support over the past month during this difficult time.

In other 7802 news, the Fund has acquired one of “Bradley Manor”‘s original cab side number plates. The Fund was very pleased to purchase the plate which was removed in the 1960s. Currently, there are no plans to refit the plate to the locomotive.

Repairs have been made to 1960s welds, above one of the axle box horns which had a flaw. The team can now focus on preparing other parts ready for the axle boxes to return, followed by the coupled wheels.

Red primer and black gloss has been applied to some areas of the frame. On the boiler, Non Destructive Test (NDT) have been carried out to find cracks, while obviously wasted sections have been cut out and new plates made. The stays needing replacement have been marked up ready for drilling out.
