Steam locomotive hauled Waverley heading for Carlisle this Sunday

Steam locomotive 45596 Bahamas will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Keighley and Skipton on Sunday 18th August 2019.

The Jubilee locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow. 45596 is hauling The Waverley on Sunday.

The railtour departs York behind the locomotive at approximately 09:30 am.

The railtour will then leave bound for Carlisle, where it will make stops at Leeds (10:13), Shipley (10:43), Keighley (10:56) and Skipton (11:14) before arriving at Hellifield Goods Loop at 11:30.

The train will depart with Bahamas at 11:50, steaming through Ribblehead (12:12) and Kirkby Stephen (12:36), and Appleby (12:47) it will go non stop to Carlisle, where it will arrive at 13:37.

After around 3 hours in Carlisle, Bahamas will depart Carlisle at 16:40 bound for York. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (17:09) and will stop for water at Appleby (17:31).

Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, Bahamas will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 18:34, continuing to Settle, the train comes off the Settle and Carlisle line at Settle Junction (18:49) where it heads for Hellifield at 18:29.

At Hellifield, Bahamas is refilled with water for the remaining journey and will take the same path back to York, calling at Skipton (19:47), Keighley (20:04), Shipley (20:18) and Leeds at 20:59.

The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of York at 21:51.
