Steam locomotive 44871 heads through Scotland this Sunday!

Ian Riley’s Ex LMS Black Five 44871 will be in action this Sunday hauling the Fife Borders railtour from Linlithgow to Tweedbank via Edinburgh Waverley.

The ECS move leaves Bo’ness at 08:22, arriving into Linlithgow at 08:44.

Departing at 08:52, 44871 hauls the train towards Edinburgh, calling at Dunfermline (09:56), Kirkaldy (10:37), Dalgety Bay (10:58) and Edinburgh Waverley at 11:29. Upon departure from Waverley, 44871 progresses further, calling at Galashiels at 12:41 and Tweedbank at 12:50.

At Tweedbank, 44871 will be serviced and watered ready for the return trip.

The charter leaves Tweedbank hauled by the WCR Diesel at 15:11, which tailed the train from Linlithgow, with 44871 trailing on the rear. The train then calls at Galashiels at 15:17.

The tour stops at Niddrie West Jn where the service will reverse and 44871 will take control once again. The final calling points for the charter is Edinburgh Waverley (16:38), Dalgety Bay (17:08), Kirkaldy (17:31), Dunfermline (18:07) and terminating at Linlithgow at 19:02.

At 19:07, 44871 hauls to ECS back to Bo’ness via Greenhill Jn where the service will reverse so the Diesel leads back in to Bo’ness.
