has made changes to their website to allow the purchase of Day Saver tickets.

The Day Saver tickets save time queueing at ticket offices and allow passengers to travel across all Merseyrail services during off-peak hours.

The cost of the Day Saver tickets are £5.30 for an adult and £2.65 for under 18's

Online Day Savers are available here: www.merseyrail.org/daysaver.

Tickets which can be purchased in advance via the website are sent via email where they can be printed out or shown on a mobile phone.

This new move follows on from Weekly, Monthly and Annual Railpass season tickets being onto contactless Merseytravel smart cards which can be purchased at any ticket office, and the decision to stop printing receipts automatically saving up to 6km of paper each year.

Using Merseyrail's Destination Merseyside online planner, passengers can use their Day Saver tickets to find events and attractions to visit across the network.

What did the officials say?

Suzanne Grant, Commercial Director at Merseyrail, said

“This is a fantastic step towards paperless ticketing for Merseyrail, and a great way of helping our passengers save time and travel more easily.

Our journey towards smart ticketing is continuing and small changes like this will have a great impact on passengers – streamlining the ticket buying process and making travelling with Merseyrail even easier.”

Liam Robinson, Chair of the Transport Committee of Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, said

“I'm delighted that train passengers will now have the option to purchase Merseyrail Day Saver tickets online, allowing them to travel across our City Region and beyond with just the click of a button.

It's another important step forward in delivering new smart and online ticket options for our whole transport network, which will make travelling easier and ensure that users always get the best value fare when they travel.”
