WATCH: Two Jubilee steam locomotives in Derbyshire!

Saturday 8th June & Tuesday 11th June 2019 saw two LMS Jubilee locomotive in Derbyshire.

These two Jubilees Locomotive being 45690 Leander & 45596 Bahamas.

45690 Leander was seen on The Scarborough Flyer from Manchester Victoria to Scarborough and return via York & Milford Loop

The Scarborough Flyer tour was previously run under the names The Coast to Coast Express & The East Yorkshireman and usually runs in late spring or early summer from Liverpool or Manchester to Scarborough & return via York & Milford Loop. After Milford Loop, the tour is usually hauled back to Manchester or Liverpool diesel hauled.

The Scarborough Flyer would see the Jubilee head through places such as Stockport, Chinley, Edale, Hathersage, Grindleford, Sheffield, Meadowhall, Swinton, Moorthorpe, Pontefract Baghill, Church Fenton, York, Malton, & Seamer.

45596 Bahamas was seen heading from Keighley & WVLR to Tyseley Steam Trust to take part in Tyseley Locomotive Works Summer Open Weekend and to haul tours for Vintage Trains.

This movement would the Jubilee head through places such as Shipley, Woodlesford, Normanton, Moorthorpe, Bolton-on-Dearne, Chesterfield, Alfreton, Ilkeston, Burton-on-Trent, Tamworth, Coleshill Parkway, Water Orton & Small Heath. 

Saturday 8th June saw RailView film 45690 Leander at Grindleford, passing through at 08:51, 9 minutes late. 

Tuesday 11th June saw RailView film 45596 Bahamas at Chesterfield, passing through at 15:05 1 minute late.

Info about 45690 Leander:

• Designed by Sir William Stanier. 
• Built by the LMS at Crewe Works in 1936.
• Numbered 5690.
• In 1948 she was renumbered to 45690.
• Withdrawn from BR in 1964.
• She was then sold to Woodham Brothers Scrapyard in South Wales.
• Purchased for preservation by Brian Oliver in 1972.
• She is currently owned by Chris Beet.
• She returned to service after an overhaul in autumn 2014.
• Her current livery BR lined Black with early crest.
• She is based at Carnforth Steamtown in Lancashire.
• Leander mainly hauls rail tours around the north of England.

Info about 45596 Bahamas:

• Designed by Sir William Stanier
• Built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in 1934
• In 1961 Bahamas was modified to carry a double chimney to improve performance 
• Withdrawn from BR in 1966
• Purchased directly from BR for preservation by the Bahamas Locomotive Society in 1967 who are her current owners
• Returned to the mainline in the 1970s where she was very popular with enthusiast until 1994
• She last ran in 1997 on the KWVR
• For fifteen years she spent her time on display at Ingrow West & Oxenhope museums on the KWVR as well as at the National Railway Museum in York
• She returned to steam in September 2018 also running at Tyseley's 50th Anniversary Open Weekend. After spending 5 years under overhaul there
• In January 2019 she returned to the mainline for the first time since 1994
• She is the only Jubilee with a double chimney in preservation 
• Her current livery is BR lined Brunswick green with late crest
• She is based at Ingrow West on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, Yorkshire.
