has announced that Polish Tank No.5485 will be joining their home fleet.

About 5485

The Polish Tank was last seen at NVR in Summer 2012 when the engine was withdrawn from service for overhaul.

The locomotive was taken off-site for overhaul, at The Flour Mill Locomotive Repair Workshop located in the Forest of Dean.

In order for 5485 to steam again, a new boiler was constructed. With the work completed, the engine has returned home to undergo running-in and any necessary repairs before entering service on the heritage line.

The NVR is unique in that when the line was rebuilt for preservation, the tracks and platforms were built to allow engines and rolling stock with wider loading gauges (Mainly European Stock) to run.
