The East Somerset Railway has released a further update on the overhaul work taking place on 5239 Goliath.
The GWR tank has been undergoing it's ‘out of frames' boiler test recently.
The big news is that this locomotive has passed it's out of frames test.
The next stage of its overhaul is to get the boiler reunited with the locomotive frames, with the boiler cladding and everything put back on to the locomotive.
There is a range of tests for the boiler to undergo. After the out of frames test, the following tests will take place: filled with water, low pressure then high pressure (10% above normal working pressure).
