A milestone has been reached in the overhaul with the boiler reunited with the rolling chassis.

All bar one ring of the boiler cladding was fitted before the move to allow the crane's straps enough room to lift the boiler in a stable manner.

Once the remainder of the cladding is fitted, the team can then begin refitting the boiler fittings and steam pipes.

The cladding used for the firebox was restored, whereas the boiler barrel's cladding is all brand new. With the use of Computed Aided Design (CAD) a 3D digital copy of each panel could be made and used to ensure they all fit perfectly.
