In order to help Ed Sheeran fans get home after his Ipswich concerts, Greater Anglia has arranged extra late-night train during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The train company is changing timings and making trains longer on some services. As well as this they are also putting on two extra trains to Norwich and three to Colchester and London.

With some shows already sold out, Ed Sheeran is set to play at Chantry on the 23, 24. 25 and 26 August.

has been working closely with the concert organisers to see where about fans are travelling from to get to the concert and also conducting a travel survey.

The research they gathered showed that fans travelling by train to the concert were planning to use the mainline from stations both North and South of Ipswich.

Additional trains will depart Ipswich between 10:30 pm and midnight, the rest of the final revised timetable is to be released in the coming weeks.

Greater Anglia is also bringing in extra staff, land sheriffs and installing barriers to help manage a large number of travellers who are expected to be at Ipswich station.

There will be no engineering works along the line between Norwich-Ipswich-Colchester and London that weekend.

Fans travelling together have the option to take advantage of special offers such as Group save. This is where groups of between three and nine people can receive a 1/3 discount off their ticket price, providing that they travel together for both journeys.

What did the officials have to say?

James Steward, Greater Anglia area customer service manager responsible for Ipswich station said:

“We've worked very closely with the concert organisers to find out what adjustments we need to make to our service to ensure Ed Sheeran fans get home after the concerts.

“We are expecting trains and Ipswich station to be very busy, so we would ask concert-goers to be patient as they may have to queue to get into the station.

“We are pleased to be able to help fans enjoy Suffolk's most successful pop star by stepping up our service. It's a fantastic boost to Ipswich that Ed Sheeran is playing four nights in the town.”
