Bus connection allows Sleeper passengers to travel to Oban

With the link set to run until October, The guests will once again be able to enjoy a direct bus connection to Oban.

It will mark the third year the overnight rail service has offered the complimentary link between Crianlarich and Oban.

The aim of easing travel for people from London to reach Argyll.

The bus service which will be operated by West Coast Motors, will be funded by Transport Scotland and is exclusive to Caledonian Sleeper guests.

The Oban bus service is to run at 19:40 on Sundays and at 20:30 Monday to Friday,.

A return service will be from Crianlarich railway station on Monday to Saturday mornings keeping in line with the Caledonian Sleeper timetable.

Caledonian Sleeper is to also be working in partnership with CalMac Ferries in order to highlight the islands that can be reached from Oban.

What did the officials have to say?

Ryan Flaherty, Serco's Managing Director at Caledonian Sleeper, said:

“We are firmly committed to supporting Scotland's tourist destinations and this bus link provides an easy way for guests travelling from London to reach Oban and beyond.

“Following the success of the service last summer, the decision has been taken to extend the link until almost the end of October, ensuring more people have the opportunity to visit this fantastic part of the world and get there with ease.”

Andrew MacNair, Head of Marketing at CalMac Ferries, said:

“CalMac Ferries is delighted to work with Caledonian Sleeper and West Coast Motors again to make it easier for people travelling to and from Oban and the islands we serve get to their end destination.”

  • What a sad state of affairs! Running a flaming bus to/from Oban. Why is it not a train! The whole point of the Caledonian Sleeper is that it is a train!

  • Why can’t the Caledonian Sleeper go all the way to Oban? I wouldn’t pay all that money to then finish by bus! pointless.

    • Spot on, an absolute disgrace that they are using a poxy bus. What irony! It defies belief🤬
