The Mynydd Underbridge in Swansea is to have renewal work. The work will commence as part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan.
Station road, which runs a one-way system close to Liberty Stadium, will close to motorists. This will be for the summer so that necessary bridge maintenance and repair work can be safely carried out.
The work is to begin on Friday 14 June and will be ongoing until the autumn.
The work will improve the stability, drainage and structure of the underbridge.
Network Rail has been working closely with Swansea City Council to provide a fully signposted diversionary route to minimise disruption to the local community as much as possible.
This route will be taking motorists up Neath road past the stadium and around Millbrook Industrial Estate.
The pedestrian footpath will remain open during this essential work except during the initial demolition of sections of the bridge, which is planned to take place from Friday 26 July to Monday 29 July.
Richard Berg, project manager for Network Rail said:
“We understand that closing the road for any length of time is inconvenient and we thank the local community and road users in advance for bearing with us whilst we complete this essential bridge maintenance.”
