Steam locomotive 60009 Union of South Africa in Dawlish this Saturday

60009 Union of South Africa will be on the mainline this Saturday, as it hauls a special railtour to Kingswear.

The locomotive is hauling the tour from Bristol to Kingswear (for Dartmouth).

Departing Guildford at 0659, the train will be passing through, diesel hauled, Wokingham (07:21), Reading (07:34), Newbury (08:07), Westbury (08:55), Bath Spa (09:40) and Bristol Temple Meads (09:53).

Once 60009 is attached to the train, the locomotive will then pass through Taunton (11:11), Tiverton Parkway (11:42), Dawlish Warren (12:20), Teignmouth (12:42), Newton Abbot (12:47), Paignton (13:29) and Kingswear at 13:55.

The return journey will see the train depart Kingswear at 17:30, then the train will pass through Paignton (18:20), Dawlish (18:49), Exeter St Davids (19:06), Taunton (19:56 – where 60009 comes off the train), Castle Cary (20:26), Westbury (20:46), Newbury (21:26), Reading (21:48) and Guildford at 22:37.
