This small update by the company covers the current work on both engines at Tyseley Locomotives Works.

34070 “Manston”

The plan is to overhaul “Manston” in the future, so while members of SLL have been at Tyseley, they have started to prepare 34070 for overhaul, by removing components.

Majority of the brake mechanism and sanders have been removed, given a quick clean, then taken back to Herston Works for overhauling. As can be seen from the picture, the front bogie has been removed.

After work on 34053 is complete, 34070 will receive the same work, overhaul of the axleboxes and journals.

34053 “Sir Keith Park”

All six journeys across the three axles have been machined ready for service. The trailing wheelset has had their axleboxes refitted, the crank/centre wheelset and leading wheelset still await their's to be reattached.
