has announced that they have now completed the refurbishment of Caerleon Road railway bridge in Newport.

The renewal was a part of their Railway Upgrade Plan.

The much-needed work to the 113-year-old railway underbridge, which crosses Caerleon Road, included repairs to the steelwork to strengthen the bridge and stonework repairs to the bridge abutments, as well as deep cleaning and painting.

The bridge renewal was completed in two phases with the first phase of the works previously being completed last year.

What did the officials say?

Richard Berg, project manager for Network Rail in Wales and Borders, said:

“The work that has now been completed on the bridge has helped to restore the structure for years to come. We worked closely with Newport City Council to keep any disruption to the local community to a minimum and we would like to thank everyone for their patience whilst we completed this essential work.”
