Over 90% of all trains ran on time over the past time period of four weeks, with the introduction of a new timetable being successful and also delivering excellent punctuality for customers of the rail services since September of the year 2018.
Across Scotland, 90.5% of all ScotRail trains met the rails industry-standard public performance measure (PPM), by arriving at their destination within 4 minutes and 59 seconds of their time of scheduled arrival, having called at all the scheduled stations that they were meant to.
These changes that were made to the timetable on Sunday the 19th of May delivered 115,000 additional seats on Scotland's Railway compared to when Abellio took over the franchise in the year of 2015. The first week of this new timetable saw 92.2% of the trains meet their target of punctuality – also a nine-month high for a single week.
There were improvements made for customers on routes all over the country during the time period of the 28th of April until the 25th of May, with cancellations made in the Suburban East sector, that include the Fife and the Borders, at their lowest level in approximately one year.
The delivery of the timetable was successful and its changes also provided 99% of the planned seats for customers in Fife and the Borders – the best week for the availability of seats in more than two years.
The improved reliability of high-speed trains is delivering for customers with an average of more than 10 in service on each day, serving Scotland's seven cities.
ScotRail has started running over 2,400 trains on every weekday, this is an increase of 11% from the amount it was 10 years ago, as Scotland's Railway continues to grow at a quicker rate than any other railway in the UK. This means that ScotRail now provides over 97 million customer journeys in each year.

Plus ScotRail now has 61 Class 385s in service with 9 more to be transferred from its Hitachi Newton Aycliffe manufacturing plant in County Durham. As ScotRail have ordered 70 Class 385s (46 3-Car Class 385 and 24 4-Car Class 385) units. Plus with 10 more Class 385s to be built if Abellio was to extend its Scotland rail franchise from next year that could be extended to 7 to 10 years.
