The Small Loco Group has announced that Derek Crouch is set to be overhauled to working condition.

The group has now announced that the board unanimously voted in favour of the proposal. As a result, the go ahead has been given to start fundraising and the overhaul of the locomotive.

Derek Crouch has not run for at least 30 years. However, has a lot to offer the NVR, carrying out a variety of duties.

The aim is to have the locomotive back in steam in time for its 100th birthday, and the 50th anniversary of passenger trains at the , in 2024.

Fundraising methods will be announced soon, but the estimated cost of the work needed is between £20,000 and £30,000.

It is hoped most of the work will be done in house, including the boiler, which will be the first major boiler overhauled at Wansford.
