Steam locomotive 70000 Britannia and 45231 in Carlisle this Saturday

70000 Britannia and 45231 will be taking part in a Locomotive Services-operated railtour this Saturday.

The two locomotives will be in Carlisle this coming Saturday, 18th May 2019.

Departing Crewe at 08:07, the first stage will be hauled by 70000 Britannia. The locomotive will pass through Hartford (08:24), Acton Bridge (08:31), Warrington Bank Quay (08:49), Wigan North Western (09:10), Leyland (09:35) and Preston (09:44).

From Preston, the train heads up the West Coast Mainline, passing through Lancaster (10:39), Oxenholme Lake District (11:00), Tebay (11:45), Penrith North Lakes (12:07) and finally Carlisle at 12:29.

Here, 70000 Britannia swaps with 45231 The Sherwood Forester.

Departing Carlisle at 15:32, the train heads for the Cumbrian Coast, passing through Maryport (16:14), Workington (16:22), Whitehaven (16:40), St Bees (16:50), Sellafield (17:05), Ravenglass (17:37), Foxfield (18:05), Dalton (18:26), Grange-over-Sands (18:51), Arnside (18:56) and Carnforth D&U.G.L at 19:09.

Here, 45231 is swapped for a Class 47 locomotive.

The Class 47 will then pass through Lancaster (19:52), Preston (20:13), Leyland (20:25), Wigan North Western (20:37), Warrington Bank Quay (20:51), Hartford (21:09) and finally Crewe at 21:26.
