Merseyrail to operate extra trains for Rock n Roll Marathon

Merseyrail has announced that they will be putting on extra morning trains for participants taking part in the Liverpool Rock n Roll Marathon this weekend.

The race which takes place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May and will see thousands of people fill the streets of Liverpool where rock laid its roots.

In previous years, has run a normal service.

However, due to the early start of the Marathon and feedback from passengers, the rail operator has confirmed that earlier trains will run.

The additional services are as follows on Sunday 26thMay:

  • 06:53 from New Brighton
  • 06:59 from Hooton
  • 07:01 from West Kirby
  • 07:06 from Hunts Cross
  • 07:07 from Ormskirk
  • 07:08 from Southport
  • 07:13 from Kirkby
What did the officials say?

Andy Heath, Managing Director for Merseyrail, said:

“The Liverpool Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon is a fantastic and hugely popular day in the Liverpool City Region's calendar, and we want to make it as easy as possible for runners and spectators to attend.

“These early trains will get our passengers into the city centre from across the region with plenty of time to prepare and focus on the race ahead. Best of luck to all taking part – Merseyrail are rooting for you!”
