April 2019 update on steam locomotive 82045

Assembling Trailing Truck // Credit Tony Massau

Work progresses both on-site at Bridgnorth and off-site at contractors in building Standard 3 Tank No.82045 at the Severn Valley Railway.

Cylinders and Trucks

The piston rods, pressure relief valves (fitted in the end covers) and carriage warming reducing valve are at various stages of being machined.

Work on the trailing truck has seen trial fitting taking place.

The leading truck's pivot slide is currently being machined.

Cab, Boiler and Tanks

The frame for the boiler water level gauge is being machined, with the handbrake system closer to completion following recent work.

Construction of the boiler feed water's deflector plates is complete. Further painting to the water tanks has been carried out, they will need to be turned before further painting can continue.
