Greater Anglia has announced that users of Sudbury station are now enjoying better lighting, resurfaced platforms and a brand new waiting shelter.
The train operator spent more than £50,000 transforming the station by replacing the old waiting shelter with a new wooden one to better protect passengers from the weather.
Also, as part of the upgrade, the lighting has been replaced with LED lights to improve safety.
In addition to the upgrade, new trains for the Sudbury line will be ‘bi-mode' trains from Stadler will be entering service soon.
What did the officials say?
Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia's Director of Asset Management, said:
“I'd like to thank customers for their patience while this work was carried out. The station is now much improved, brighter and safer as a result of this upgrade.
“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”

But why would Greater Anglia spend £50,000 on a shelter at Sudbury station. Surly the shelter doesn’t cost that much. Absolute joke.
Some stations have got wooden shelters. But I think more stations do need lot more improvements. As Greater Anglia are to continue maintaining railway stations for the passengers to use. And new trains are also coming.
