Where and when to see two Black 5 steam locomotives tomorrow on the mainline

Black 5 locomotives, 44871 and 45407, will be back in steam on the mainline and will be passing through Basingstoke and Kensington Olympia on Friday 12th April 2019.

The Black 5s are on a railtour tomorrow, they are hauling The Citadel from Manchester to Carlisle and return.

The steam locomotives departs Manchester Victoria at 07:33, and will then pass through  Salford Central (07:35), Bolton (08:06), Chorley (08:23), Blackburn (08:58), Clitheroe (09:28), Hellifield (09:58), Settle (10:48), Dent (11:13), Appleby (11:40), Armathwaite (12:59) and Carlisle at 13:25.

The return trip will see the duo depart Carlisle at 15:17, and will then pass through Penrith (15:41), Tebay (16:47), Oxenholme Lake District (17:00), Carnforth D&UGL (17:20) – here the steam locomotives are taken off the train and are replaced by a diesel locomotive. The train will then return to Manchester Victoria via Lancaster (18:11), Preston (18:34), Bolton(19:06) and finally Manchester Victoria at 19:56.
