The group looking after 60009 Union of South Africa have released an update on the repair work being carried out on the locomotive.

60009 has been out for a number of weeks, due to an issue, which caused the locomotive to miss out on its visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (replaced by 34092 City of Wells).

Following repairs, the issue that arose during testing has now been fixed, with the locomotive now ready to haul tours again.

It is now expected that 60009 Union of South Africa will travel to York tomorrow, Friday 19th April 2019, to work its planned to Edinburgh. The timings for this move have not been released yet, but as soon as we know anything, we will update you.

60009 Union of South Africa will then pick up its remaining tours if the locomotive is available.
