Pendle MP, Andrew Stephenson, has announced a number of transport improvements for the Colne area.
Firstly, he has announced that a fully funded study into a Colne Bypass has now been secured.
A Colne Bypass study, along with securing a £200,000 feasibility study into the reopening of the Colne to Skipton Rail line, has been something Andrew has been working on for a while now.
Back in February, the Secretary of State for Transport visited Pendle, Andrew took the opportunity to show the state of the traffic along Vivary Way and North Valley Road.
Responses to Andrew Stephenson’s survey, showed that local residents wanted improved rail and road connections.
For many years, there has been talks for both a bypass and railway line in Colne and now the local MP has been able to secure the attention of Ministers and financial backing of the Government to move both projects significantly forward.

I think its a brilliant idea. So yes build a bypass and a railway line to Skipton. As the North of England needs lots of improvements to its roads and railways which could be part of the Northern Powerhouse.
i think the railway should come first more roads only make more car which we do not need .
The line for the Colne to Skipton branch should never of been closed. If you look at the state of the railway infrastructure now and what Colne had railway wise in the past the old carriage sidings with the turntable could of been a freight terminal before getting into Yorkshire but now it has housing built on it.
