The Swanage Railway has announced that LMS Class 2 No.46521 will be visiting the line to bolster steam locomotive availability.

The visit of 46521 coincides with the visit of Flying Scotsman and Caledonian 419.

46521 will also be staying at the railway throughout Easter. 46521 is already on the move, and is expected to join the tomorrow!

46521 will be visiting the Swanage Railway thanks to the Great Central Railway and the LSLG.

Unfortunately, SR U Class 31806 is now unavailable for service. This is due to a mechanical fault and has been moved to Swanage Railway's Herston Works for maintenance

In line with this 31806 will not be appearing at our Spring Steam Up; however 46521 will join 419, 60103, 30120, 80126 and 33111.

This locomotive was allocated to Oswestry, Brecon and Machynlleth sheds during its working life. The locomotive was a regular sight in Barmouth during the 1950s and 1960s. It worked trains along the Cambrian Coast and the regular shuttles to Dolgellau via the Mawddach Estuary.
