Steam locomotives on test as final countdown to 2019 season at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway begins

Final preparations are being made to the beginning of the 2019 running season at the NYMR.

Today (Tuesday 26th March) saw 5428, 1264 and 65894 on steam test after undergoing heavy winter maintenance.

Saturday 30th March sees the NYMR swing open it's doors for the 2019 season with visiting SR Bullied Pacific 34092 ‘City of Wells' replace originally planned 60009 ‘Union of South Africa' hauling special, pre-booked services along the 18-mile line from Grosmont to Pickering.

This Saturday, locomotives expected to be in service along with 34092 are SR Schools 926 ‘Repton', NER J27 65894 and BR Class 101 DMU, 101685 ‘Daisy'. LMS Stanier 5 5428 ‘Eric Treacy' or LNER B1 1264 will operate the Pullman Dining Service.

Make sure to head over to the to get in on the action whether its taking photos, walking around the Motive Power Depot viewing areas or riding on the train.
