The East Somerset Railway has released an update on the overhaul work, which is progressing well, on steam locomotive 5239 Goliath

The past few weeks has seen steady progress being made on the boiler of the locomotive.

The internal steam collector pipes have been removed, repaired and refitted. The first few crown stays have been fitted, and the remaining holes tapped. The railway is now awaiting the rest of the batch to be delivered before they can fit them to the locomotive.

The monel stays around the Firehole have been fitted and caulked to seal them. Many of the studs on the backhead have been removed or drilled out.

The bunker is still progressing and so is the bottom end with the eccentrics now machined and painted.
