73050’s tender to be paired with steam locomotive 92134

The Nene Valley Railway has announced that the tender of their BR Standard 5 No.73050 “City of Peterborough” has been loaned out for use on 9F 92134 undergoing restoration at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Beneficial Deal

Firstly, the agreement will allow efforts to focused on completing 92134 and ensure the engine returns to traffic in a shorter time scale.

92134's own tender will be finished after the engine is in service. Hiring out 73050's tender also raises more funds towards overhauling the Standard 5 at the .

Currently, under restoration, the 9F will become apart of the home fleet once back in steam.

92134 is unique being the only preserved 9F to feature a single chimney and blastpipe.

Current work sees the engine being reassembled, with many new and old components returning to their rightful spot.

73050 “City of Peterborough”

The NVR's flagship locomotive is currently undergoing restoration at the NVR. Withdrawal from traffic came when it's last boiler ticket expired in 2014. Presently, it is estimated that “City of Peterborough” might return for 2021, but this is dependent of donations towards the cost of its overhaul.
