The Great Central Railway – Nottingham has announced that Class J94 No.68067 will be visiting them for their 2019 season.
68067 will be hauling passenger trains throughout the year, however, it is not yet known when the locomotive will arrive and depart, more on that soon.
The locomotive will also be taking part in a number of events that are expected to take place at the GCRN over the coming season.
68067 appears at the Great Central Railway – Nottingham thanks to the Great Central Railway – Loughborough and Roger Hibbert, the locomotives owner.
A little history on 68067
The locomotive is a 0-6-0 saddle tank which was built in 1943 to the Hunslet Engine Company design. It was built for the War Department by Hudswell Clarke and entered service as WD 75091.
Along with many other locomotives, 75091 was bought by the National Coal Board and in 1950, it moved to the Holly Bank Colliery, near Wolverhampton. The colliery closed in 1952 and the locomotive moved to the Littleton Colliery in Staffordshire in 1959. It then moved around several collieries before being moved to the Bold Colliery near St Helens in February 1978 where it was named ‘Robert’.
‘Robert’ (as it was known in its working life) was withdrawn from working service and sold for preservation in 1982 and was later preserved at the Crewe Heritage Centre.
It arrived at the Great Central Railway in November 2007. Since then it has been under overhaul and returned to steam in 2017, where it was given the number 68067 and painted in BR black livery.

68067, whilst not originally a J94, she is currently in BR livery and therefore is disguised as a J94.
The information about the MoD and WD came from a press release sent to us, so we assumed that this information was correct…!

Please get your facts right, this loco was not built for the Ministry of Defence, this was built for the War Department, that is why it had a WD number.!
The MoD did not exist until the 1960,’s, if you are going to post on here, at least get it right, before your wrong details become accepted as fact.
You have a duty to get your facts right which you continually fail to do.
