The Bluebell Railway has announced that Beattie Well Tank 30587 will be visiting the line in 2019.
The London and South Western Railway locomotive will be visiting for the Branch Line Weekend, which is being held from the 15th – 17th March 2019.
The locomotive joins W24 Calbourne (from the Isle of Wight Railway) and other small locos from the Bluebell Railway at the gala.

The timetable for the gala will be different on each day. On Friday, the railway will be operating an increased frequency timetable between East Grinstead and Sheffield Park, featuring shorter trains hauled by a selection of locomotives.
On both the Saturday and Sunday, it will be “All Change at Horsted Keynes” with an intensive timetable of trains between there and both Sheffield Park and East Grinstead and with frequent changes of locomotives. There also will be brake van rides available at Horsted Keynes.
A brief history of 30587
30587 was one of 85 locomotives as part of the LSWR Beattie 2-4-0WT designed by Joseph Hamilton Beattie. This locomotive was built in 1874 at Nine Elms and had working life until being withdrawn. It was selected for preservation by the National Railway Museum in 1963. Since then, it has been based a number of preserved railways and visited others for galas.
