Steam locomotive 2253 arrives at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway

On Tuesday 12th February 2019, the team working on USATC S160 2253 announced that their locomotive would be returning to its old base, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

The locomotive and tender were delivered to Newbridge Yard on Wednesday 13th January 2019 pending transfer to Grosmont MPD.

At Grosmont MPD, the locomotive will enter the final stages of its restoration to full working order.

Once complete, 2253 will undergo testing and trials on the NYMR before transferring to her new base, the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway.

What did they say?

Peter Best, part of the 2253 team, said on the ‘Friends of 2253' Facebook group on Tuesday:

“After 2 1/2 years at Northern Steam Engineering, the loco and tender are moving to the for the final stage of its restoration journey and commissioning trials.”
