South Western Railway has announced that they have made a donation of £1,000 to the Clapham Junction station team's festive charity shoe-box collection.

The charity selected to receive the donations are the Ace of Clubs, who provide a range of services for local homeless people, including medical treatment; dental care; financial and benefits advice; and social gatherings and events.

The train operator is keen to help local communities along its route and will be making a further two donations to homeless charities, in Southampton and Basingstoke.

What did the officials say?

Shay-Simone Brown, Flagship Station Manager at Clapham Junction for , said:

“After a hugely successful Christmas campaign, where SWR staff and customers generously donated over 480 boxes full of useful presents for local homeless people, we wanted to recognise what a great job the Ace of Clubs does with an extra donation.

“We know that this money will go towards helping local homeless people who are less fortunate than those of us with a roof over our head and a safe place to sleep. We hope to continue working with Ace of Clubs in the months ahead.”
