The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways have announced that No.87 will have a new colour when it reappears the following overhaul.
The NG/G16 is currently under overhaul, which is now in an advanced stage.
Following appearances in WHR Grey and blue, No. 87 will be outshopped in SAR Black, complete with SAR and SAS lettering on the rear bunker.
- SAR = South African Railways
- SAS = Suid Afrikaanse Spoorwee
87 has been a good performer for the Welsh Highland Railway, either hauling trains from the Porthmadog terminus or the Caernarfon terminus. It has also been seen on various freight trains on the year, and it will be great to see the locomotive return to steam following its overhaul.
