The West Somerset Railway Association (WSRA) have set up a JustGiving page to help raise funds to complete the overhaul of Great Western Railway (GWR) small mogul No.9351.
About the Overhaul
Withdrawn from traffic in 2015, on expiry of its boiler ticket, 9351 is nearing the end of its current overhaul.
While the boiler was sent away to LNWR Crewe, the ‘bottom-end' stayed on the WSR where the team at Minehead carried out all necessary work.
Now reunited, the engine has been transported down the line to Williton, where the locomotive will be completed.
To ensure 9351 steams for the majority of the 2019 season, the WSRA is asking for donations towards the final stages in the rebuild.
To date, 60% of the required funds have been raised of the total £14,000. Donations little or large will be greatly appreciated by the WSRA.

About 9351
Although a 2-6-0 tender engine today, 9351 started life as a 2-6-2T No.5193 at the GWR's Swindon Works in 1934. Working both passenger and freight work along branch lines, 5193 was withdrawn for scrap in 1962.
After almost two decades left in an unrestored state, the WSR purchased 5193 in 1979. Before restoration started, plans were put forward to convert 5193 into a 2-6-0 tender engine, which would suit the WSR's needs as 9351 carries more coal and water. The new and never seen before design entered service September 2004, with the appearance of a small boilered 43XX class.
