Where and when to see steam locomotive 60163 Tornado this Tuesday

Steam locomotive 60163 Tornado will return to the mainline this week as repairs and running in comes to an end.

After failing on ‘The Ebor Flyer’ in 2018, the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust have been busy completing the repairs and the documents that go along with the repairs with their operator, DB Cargo.

The locomotive has then been busy on the Nene Valley Railway, hauling service trains and Santa Specials. However, now is the time to return to the mainline once again.

Departing Orton Mere at 19:25, the locomotive will head via Peterborough (19:40), Grantham (20:45), Newark North Gate (21:24) and Retford (21:44).

Continuing from Retford, the LNER A1 locomotive will head via Doncaster Decoy South Jcn (22:00) before arriving at Belmont Down Yard at 22:07.

After nearly an hour, the locomotive will head via Doncaster (23:01), York (23:43), Thirsk (00:31), Eaglescliffe (00:59), Thornaby (01:07) and Stockton (01:34).

After a ten minute break, the locomotive will depart Stockton and will pass through Yarm (01:56), Thirsk (02:18), York (03:03), Doncaster (03:55), Swinton (04:51) and Barrow Hill North Jn at 05:20.
