WATCH: Drone footage as detonators mark last steam locomotive over Butts Bridge

Drone footage has been released showing the last ever steam train to traverse over the historic Butts Bridge on the Mid Hants Railway.

The reason for the bridge being demolished is because of a new road widening scheme which will allow for a new housing development in Alton.

Detonators were used to bid farewell to the bridge, which was built in 1865.

Both drone footage and lineside footage have been used in this video, lights were also used (as can be seen in the video), all personnel were there with prior knowledge to the train crew.

As part of this work, the Watercress Line are unable to run trains to Alton whilst the work is taking place. Trains from Alresford to Medstead will remain unaffected.

Thanks to Will for the footage, an excellent job indeed!
