team have been busy since the New Year in building 1014 “County of Glamorgan”.

Connecting Rod and Safety Valves

Measurements have been taken in order to finalise the design for the connecting rods. This has included measuring the distance between the centre line of the cylinder and crankpin.

A number of years ago, a safety valve bonnet was donated to the Great Western Society.

It has recently been found by the team working on the new build Saint and has been given a repaint.

Smokebox and Smokebox Saddle

Good progress has been made in the construction of the new smokebox and smokebox saddle.

The main barrel has been completed, along with the door ring which has been machined. As can be seen from the picture, the smokebox saddle fabrication is almost complete.
