The Churnet Valley Railway has announced that the Scottish Railway Preservation Society and the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway have come to the rescue, with CR No.419 visiting for their Winter Steam Gala.
This announcement is due to the unavailability of GWR ‘Manor' No.7827 Lydham Manor.
No. 419 returned to steam in October 2018 and is based at the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway in Scotland. The locomotive has not visited England since 1982.
419 joins Whiston (from the Foxfield Railway), Hotspur, No.6046 and No.5197 at the gala, which will feature an intensive timetable.
The locomotive was built by the Caledonian Railway at St Rollox Works, Glasgow, in 1907 and was designed by J.F. Mcintosh for branch line work before its career was ended on pilot duties for British Railways at Carstairs.
