The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway has announced that B12 8572 will not be attending the Spring Steam Gala.

No reason has been given for this cancellation, however, it is disappointing for the railway as this was their headling visitor.

It was planned for the B12 to visit from the North Norfolk Railway, and the KWVR have not said anything about a replacement for the B12.

However, there is still a respectable line up for the gala, which sees 45596 Bahamas line up against the home fleet of 45212, 75078, 5820, 41241, 78022 and 1054.

A little history of B12 8572

B12 8572 is the M&GN Societies flagship locomotive. 8572 was built in 1928 to a Great Eastern design for express passenger services in East Anglia.

The locomotive was preserved by the M&GN society in 1963 and has been based at the North Norfolk Railway since, and has been seen visiting a number of railways over the years. The engine is currently in LNER apple green livery.
