Steam locomotive 60103 Flying Scotsman will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Blackburn and Settle on Saturday 22nd December 2018.
The A3 locomotive is hauling ‘The Flying Scotsman Christmas Dalesman’ this Saturday operated by West Coast Railways.
Starting in Manchester Victoria at 07:33, the tour will head through Bolton & Blackburn before reaching Hellifield Goods Loop where the locomotive will be watered (if not here, Appleby) and checked before her attack of the 1/100 climb to Ais Gill summit then downhill to Carlisle.
At Carlisle, the locomotive and coaching stock will head to Upperby Loop where the locomotive will be turned and prepped ready for the return journey via Penrith to Eden Valley Goods Loop and then on to Shap Summit and Carnforth Goods Loop.
Here, 60103 will be taken off the tour for the rest of the tour to be hauled by a West Coast Railways Diesel locomotive.
This tour follows the same route as another West Coast Railways excursion,The Citadel, operated with 45212 and 45407 on the 10th November.
