November 2018 has seen more exciting news for (GSNLRS), which is approaching it's third birthday.

New Base?

The GSNLRS is currently in discussions which could see a new site to move 35011 to, in order to allow the further dismantling of the engine to progress its restoration. If all goes to plan and a deal is struck, the Society will inform its members.

In the event an agreement is reached between both parties, the GSNLRS will release an appeal.

The aim of the appeal will be to raise the required funds to transport 35011 from Sellindge (current home) to the new site.

It will roughly cost £7,000 for the move, which includes the cost of hiring a crane to move another engine currently sitting in front of “General Steam Navigation”.

Loaned Components

Some original Bulleid components have been given to the GSNLRS on long-term loan. These are four electric lamps and a Smiths Speedometer.

Although fitted on some LNER and BR Standard Class engines, the Speedo loaned to the Society came off a Bulleid Pacific. All parts will need to be overhauled before they are ready to use.
