Steam locomotive 60009 Union of South Africa in Leeds this Friday – where and when to see it!

Steam locomotive 60009 Union of South Africa will be back in steam tomorrow on the mainline and will be passing through Leeds on its journey.

The A4 locomotive is on a light engine movement. 60009 is moving from the National Railway Museum, where it has been stabled whilst on tours and is heading down to the East Lancashire Railway for Christmas. She will set off from the NRM at 08:55.

The steam locomotive will stop at York at 09:12 before heading via Ulleskelf (09:37), Church Fenton (09:41), Castleford (10:39), Woodlesford (10:54), Shipley (11:53), Keighley (12:08), Gargrave (12:32), Clapham (14:14), Carnforth (14:45), Lancaster (15:56).

Following a stop at Lancaster, it will continue down the West Coast Mainline to Preston (16:27), Leyland (16:35), Bolton (16:57), Salford Crescent (17:13), Salford Central (17:17), Manchester Victoria (17:23) and Miles Platting (17:30) before arriving at Bury East Lancashire Railway at 20:20.
