Today, 7th December 2018, 35028 Clan Line has had a very special duty to complete. The Merchant Navy locomotive hauled HRH Prince Charles to Cardiff!

A very special birthday for the locomotive group, who are celebrating 70 years this year.

Being a Royal Train, we had no idea about this special train, nor did anyone else, so to have these photos from Leo Martin is a superb honor!

HRH Prince of Wales took to the tracks to get to Cardiff Central, where he was greeted by train staff and a childrens choir.

He had the chance to meet the team behind the steam locomotive, and step on board the footplate!

It is brilliant to see a heritage locomotive operating on the mainline, and doing such an important job too.

35028 Clan Line is a credit to the team, and this superb achievement is a credit to their hard work.

Below is a short clip, courtesy of The Royal Family Channel, shows 35028 Clan Line arriving into Cardiff, and HRH Prince Charles stepping on board the locomotive:

We would like to thank Leo Martin for his shots of 35028 Clan Line at Didcot Parkway on the return trip with the help of Royal Class 67 67005 Queens Messenger.
