Chiltern Railways has announced that Aylesbury Vale Parkway has celebrated 10 years since it opened.
The station did this by giving customers a “thank you” cupcake, after a successful decade in operation.
The £12 million station was jointly funded by Chiltern Railways, the Department for Transport's Community Infrastructure Fund, John Laing plc, and Buckinghamshire County Council.
It has become a growth success and big asset to the area with customer journeys reaching 169,000 a year.
The future also looks promising for Aylesbury Vale Parkway as it is a proposed stop on the East West Rail service between London Marylebone and Milton Keynes Central.
What did the officials say?
Eleni Jordan, Commercial Director of Chiltern Railways said:
“Aylesbury Vale Parkway is a very important station for us and it's fantastic to see what happens when you create new transport opportunities for people and how it can help local economies to thrive. We are investigating how we can further improve this experience for our customers and will continue to do so.”
Tony Cahill, Senior Asset Manager, John Laing said:
“It has been great to see patronage at Aylesbury Vale Parkway increase over the last 10 years, as it provides a valuable transport service to the growing local developments. We look forward to continuing our close working partnership with Chiltern Railways, Buckinghamshire County Council and Network Rail to provide station enhancements that meet the evolving needs of the community.”
Mark Shaw, Buckinghamshire County Council Deputy Leader and Transport Cabinet Member, said:
“The station is an important transport link, and I'm delighted more and more residents from Berryfields and surrounding areas are using it. Not only this, but the recent opening of the Greenway gives other residents in Waddesdon safe cycling and walking access to a sustainable means of travel, and opens up our beautiful countryside to visitors from further along the line.”

When the East West Rail link does eventually open. Plus with phase 3 between Bedford-Cambridge to be announced for construction. The new railway line will connect major towns, cities and airports (including Oxford, Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Cambridge, Ipswich, Norwich and Stansted Airport) and to provide a vital rail link between the Cotswolds, Chilterns, The Midlands and the East of England. Which the new East-West railway line will avoid London and provide better journey times and with connections to other major railway lines such as Cambridge to Ipswich Line, Cambridge to Norwich Line via Ely, West Coast Main Line from Bletchley, East Coast Main Line from Sandy, Midland Main Line from Bedford, Cotswolds Line from Oxford and other lines it will connect with. Plus with freight trains also to use the East-West Rail link from Felixstowe to Wales and the North of England.
