The East Somerset Railway has released a short update on the overhaul of steam locomotive 5239 Goliath.

Despite the railway being busy with their Santa Specials, progress on the locomotive has been good.

Coupling rod bearings have been on the production line, which is now in full swing and progress is being made.

Elliot has been machining the grooves on the borer, Nigel has then followed him by machining the outside diameters on the lathe.

The next job was to white metal them, this has been done by Steve before Matt machines the oil felt slot and then back to Nigel to machine the bores to size.

In the shed, Jeff has made very good progress building the flatpack bunker.
