Where to see TWO steam locomotives in Manchester and Carlisle this Saturday

No. 45212 arrives at Ingrow West on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway

Steam locomotives 45212 and 45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier’ will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in and around Manchester and Carlisle on Saturday 10th November 2018.

The locomotive is on a special railtour by West Coast Railways on Saturday, 10th November 2018. 45212/45407 is hauling The Citadel. The tour sees the steam locomotive steam through Settle on its way to Carlisle.

The train, hauled by the steam locomotives, will depart Manchester Victoria at approximately 07:27 am.

The tour will head via Salford Cresent (07:35), Clifton (07:39) before stopping at Bolton (07:49). From here, the train will head through Horwich Parkway (07:57), Leyland (08:19), Bamber Bridge (08:27), Cherry Tree (08:39) and Mill Hill (08:40) before arriving into Blackburn at 08:43.

From Blackburn, the train will head via Ramsgreave & Wilpshire (08:53), Whalley (09:07) and Clitheroe (09:15) before arriving into Hellifield Goods Loop.

From here, 45212 and 45407 will run up the Settle and Carlisle. Departing Hellifield at 10:34, the locomotive will steam through Ribblehead (10:57) and Garsdale (11:11) before stopping at Appleby at 11:33.

Departing Appleby at 12:17, the locomotive will head through Armathwaite at 12:43 before arriving into Carlisle at 13:05.

On the return trip, the steam locomotives will depart Carlisle at 15:15 before heading via Penrith North Lakes (15:39), Shap Summit (16:38), Tebay (16:46) and Oxenholme Lake District (16:59) before arriving into Carnforth D&UGL at 17:18.

Here, 45212 is removed from the train, with 45407 taking the train back via Preston (18:39), Horwich Parkway (19:04), Bolton (19:13), and Salford Crescent (19:48) before arriving into Manchester Victoria at 20:05.
