The 6201 Princess Elizabeth Society has released an update on the repair work taking place to steam locomotive 6201 Princess Elizabeth at Carnforth.

The past few weeks has seen more progress being made at Carnforth. 6201 Princess Elizabeth celebrated her 85th birthday on the 3rd of November.

The motion has been re-fitted to the locomotive. Also, more components repaired and reinstalled to the locomotive as they become ready.

Most importantly though, the boiler has seen further repairs completed and has been back up to the full pressure of 250psi.

This has meant that 6201 has been able to move under her own steam for the first time in nearly 2 years.

The repair team aren't finished yet, but this is definitely a key milestone in getting the locomotive back into service.

If you would like to see Lizzie back on the mainline soon, you can help by sending a small donation towards the cost of repairs. Click here for more information.
