The Corris Railway has released a short update on their work on the museum, running season along with other work carried out.
The normal running season at the narrow gauge railway has now ended for 2018, apart from the two days of Santa Train operations (on the 8th and 9th December 2018).
Progress is now being with the improvements to the museum which is found at Corris Station. This follows the work carried out last winter to repair the roof and the replacement of the windows in the building.
New display cases have been ordered and now the attention has turned to improving the presentation of the rolling stock and artefacts, all of which can be found in the museum, which is free to enter.
The Museum's new curator is Ioan Rhys Lord, who is one of the more youthful members of the Corris Railway Society. The Society is now mindful of the importance of the need to involve younger people in its work and operations. It has now extended the upper age range for Young Persons Membership to 25. This is in consideration of the number of those who are in full-time education or earning lower wages. The rate will be £17 per annum.
The Santa Trains will have an additional attraction this year with a signing by Sam Knappett of his children's' books “Daniel's Branchline”, “Mainline Engines” and a new title “Four Friendly Engines”.
Steam trains will leave Corris at hourly intervals between 11 and 3 pm each day to take passengers to go and see Santa and his helpers who will be ready with presents for the children and refreshments for the adults.
Train travel is on a pay on the day basis and the Corris Railway is hoping for a no repeat of last year when the weather meant that travel problems left 400 mince pies in Rhyl and not in Corris for the Santa Specials.
