The 82045 Steam Locomotive Trust have published their October 2018 update on building Standard 3 Tank No.82045.

Brake System

Work has continued on fitting and producing parts that will form the braking system. Underneath the cab, the brake-shaft has been installed.

The brake blocks are currently in storage until ready for fitting. The pull rods are in the process of being constructed, which involves forging then machining to correct size.

Components that require manufacturing include the brake hangers and cross stretchers. Work on these is planned to start soon.

Pony Trucks and Expansion Links

The axleboxes for the pony trucks are receiving the final machining before they can be white metalled. A few other components for the pony trucks are also under construction. The expansion links have started to be forged.
